We are a ministry within Calvary Chapel of the Triad, located in Kernersville, NC.  Our goal is to reach lost people for Jesus, and help believers become His disciples.

Cross Road is open to all single young adults, post high school, ages 18-30ish. We meet weekly at 7:00pm on Friday, in the church cafe, for worship through music, teaching and hanging out. We also have scheduled group times throughout the month. The teaching each week stand on their own, so feel free to join us at any time.

Joel & Orna Fisher
Deacon, Ministry Administration

It’s been a fun adventure so far.  We met in the Army in 1997,  I was active duty, and newly assigned to RAF Molesworth, UK, and Orna was a reservist who had recently been activated and assigned there also.  At the time I was a backslidden believer, and Orna was a cultural, mostly non-practicing, Jew.  We married exactly 1 year after we met.  The strange things is that after we got married, it was Orna who kept encouraging me to go to church and get involved even though she wasn’t a believer and in her mind would never be.  Then one of those critical events happened in life that at the time seemed bad but God totally worked out for good.  Orna completely tore her ACL while playing soccer, which required a surgery that would then become very badly infected.  So after the Lord brought Orna through a scary 2 week hospital stay, she slowly recovered enough to start physical therapy.  At some point during her physical therapy, Kevin Thoman became her therapist, and during a conversation in which she actually invited him to church (a non-believer inviting someone to church?), he invited her to Calvary Chapel and explained a little about it.  She told me about it, so we started visiting Calvary Chapel on and off for a couple of months.  After several months of bouncing back and forth, about 5 years ago we started attending Calvary Chapel full time.  The Lord used the consistent teaching of the Bible to convince Orna of her need for salvation, and she accepted Jesus as the Jewish Messiah and as her Savior.  God has also used the teaching of the His Word to light a fire in our hearts for serving Him and His people.  Although we’re far from where we should be, when I look back I’m amazed and praise God for how far He has brought us.  I’m originally from Albuquerque, NM, and Orna is originally from Bloomfield Hills, MI.  We now have 4 kids, Leah(7), Kyla(5), Ze’ev(3) and Raia(3).  They are incredible blessings, and through them God has taught us so much about Himself and unconditional love.

Aaron and Gwendolyn Mattern are parents to two sons, Hayden and Isaac.  They have been a part of the body of Calvary Chapel since September of 2006 when they got married.  They visited CC a few times throughout the summer of ‘06 as they looked for the church that would be their home once they were wed.  Both Aaron and Gwendolyn were raised as pastor’s kids, though they have each faced their own struggles and battles throughout their lives and walks with the Lord.  Both attended UNCG for college and majored in International Business, however they had never even met or seen one another until their senior year when they both studied abroad a semester in Granada, Spain.  Their time in Spain overlapped by 12 days; just enough time for Gwendolyn to realize that Aaron was her answer to prayer for another Christian to pick up where she would leave off in the lives of her foreign unbelieving friends, and just enough time for Aaron to realize that Gwendolyn was his answer to prayer that he would be able to adjust to life in a foreign place where he hardly spoke the language and would know no Christians.  Gwendolyn introduced him to all her friends, Christian and non, and he quickly got acclamated to his new environment.  Outside of their love for God and their family, they love building friendships with people and having fun while doing so.
